What information actually changes a fight
Information in Marathon is anything that changes whether you peek. Audio, silhouettes, cooldown tells, and missing teammates all count.
Marathon is Bungie’s extraction-style shooter where loadout risk and raid information matter more than highlight clips. Swinging blind is a habit, not a style. If a habit only works in highlight videos, drop it after two failed sessions.
How to gather it without stalling forever
Spend the first seconds of a contact gathering, not spraying. In interior labs, open approaches, extract funnels, that might be a lean, a drone, a scent check, or a pause at a door.
Cap intel time. Ten extra seconds of “maybe” is often worse than a committed plan on raid planning, team roles, extract windows, intel before greed.
Common info mistakes in pubs
Common leaks: third-partying without an exit; splitting loot calls; playing every raid juiced. Those mistakes create fake confidence — you think you know, and you do not.
If two teammates have different stories, believe the more conservative one until you see the angle yourself.
A short intel checklist
Checklist: know your exit, name one threat direction, then take the fight. Practice one contract type, quiet rotate week, role-locked trio until the pause is automatic.
Do not collect intel you will not use. Marathon rewards a short list, not a documentary.
Keep this page as the playable checklist, then open these notes if you still want more detail.
